Billie Winner-Davis, Reality Winner's mother, told Business Insider on Tuesday that President Donald Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, is attempting legal representation to aid the former Air Force language analyst contractor and Kingsville native Reality Winner with her case.
Winner pleaded guilty in 2018 to leaking classified National Security Agency information on Russia's alleged efforts to interfere with the 2016 election. She was found guilty of violating the U.S. Espionage Act and sentenced to five years in prison at the Federal Medical Center-Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 2016 following her separation from six years of active duty, Winner was hired by Pluribus International Corporation under an NSA contract to work out of Fort Gordon, Georgia.
According to ABC News, Winner printed a classified report detailing how Russian hackers allegedly “executed cyber espionage operations” on local election systems and mailed the documents to The Intercept.
She was arrested on June 3, 2017.
Amazing! Thank you. My daughter Reality Leigh Winner is yet another victim of this admin. Doing hard time for bringing the truth to light. #FreeRealityWinnerhttps://t.co/wU0sg3LeRs

California Sells Your Social Security Number For $6 Online
March 24, 2007
An Internet security breach in California placed hundreds of thousands of Social Security numbers in cyberspace. For three years, the Secretary of State's office routinely placed thousands of documents containing Social Security numbers on the Internet and then sold them to the public for $6 each. From what we know, these records have been available for sale on the World Wide Web since 2004, making this potentially the longest running government breach in California's history". California's new Secretary of State Debra Bowen moved quickly to shut down web access once she was notified.
Many local government agencies, including California county recorders office, still provide Social Security numbers on tax liens and other public records providing a potential treasure trove for identity thieves.
At California's Office of Privacy Protection, more than 1,000 consumers call each year with questions and concerns about identity theft. If your Social Security number is compromised, privacy experts said the best way to protect yourself is to freeze your credit rating."
In other words, nobody can open new credit, including you until that freeze is lifted," said Russ Heimerich of the Department Of Consumer Affairs.Privacy advocates said public records should allow Californians to monitor their government, not each other.
Jones is trying ban the practice of listing Social Security numbers on government Web sites.
Hearings at the state Capitol are scheduled for April.
"(Biden’s) own chief of staff, Ron Klain, would say last year that it was pure luck, that they did ‘everything possible wrong’ (with H1N1). And we learned from that."
