Billie Winner-Davis, Reality Winner's mother, told Business Insider on Tuesday that President Donald Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, is attempting legal representation to aid the former Air Force language analyst contractor and Kingsville native Reality Winner with her case.
Winner pleaded guilty in 2018 to leaking classified National Security Agency information on Russia's alleged efforts to interfere with the 2016 election. She was found guilty of violating the U.S. Espionage Act and sentenced to five years in prison at the Federal Medical Center-Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 2016 following her separation from six years of active duty, Winner was hired by Pluribus International Corporation under an NSA contract to work out of Fort Gordon, Georgia.
According to ABC News, Winner printed a classified report detailing how Russian hackers allegedly “executed cyber espionage operations” on local election systems and mailed the documents to The Intercept.
She was arrested on June 3, 2017.
Amazing! Thank you. My daughter Reality Leigh Winner is yet another victim of this admin. Doing hard time for bringing the truth to light. #FreeRealityWinnerhttps://t.co/wU0sg3LeRs
Michael Cohen, who pleaded guilty to campaign violations and tax fraud in 2018, began serving his sentence in May 2019 at the federal penitentiary in Otisville, New York.
He has been under house arrest since July over coronavirus concerns.
Military.com stated that Reality’s mother sent a Twitter message that said “Cohen has asked another attorney to look at the case and for opportunities to help.”

A recently unsealed criminal complaint against Jacques, tells a twisted tale, and it is sick.
This story is NOT for everyone with a weak stomache.
The papers detail x-rated messages between Email accounts linked to computers allegedly used by Jacques and an Email account allegedly used by the 14-year-old girl whom Jacques is accused of sexual assaulting for the last five years.
That girl allegedly told investigators that she is a member of "Breckenridge" - an underground program where children have sex with adults.
The Emails discuss kidnapping Bennett and initiating her into the program.
One Email attributed to a computer used by Jacques reads, "The best thing is if the take down is quick and quiet and the best chance of that is if you help."
The response was "I just want her to suffer."
Prosecutors say they've essentially suspended their state case against Jacques for aggravated sexual assault.
They tell us they are now focusing all of their efforts on prosecuting the 42-year-old on a federal kidnapping charge.
That charge carries a penalty of life in prison or the death penalty.
The investigation into Bennett's disappearance and death has not let law enforcement officials to any sort of larger underground sex ring.
Ray Gagnon, Bennett's former step-father, is scheduled to appear in federal court on Monday to face an obstruction of justice charge.
Prosecutors allege Gagnon instructed his Texas landlord to destroy a laptop computer containing pictures of Jacques's alleged 14-year-old victim having sex with her underage boyfriend.
The planning into Bennett's abduction began as early as May 28, according to Emails recovered by authorities from a pair of computers belonging to Jacques.
On June 20, an Email from "Domingo" stated :
"I want to know if you are willing to help dad with the taken-down and the tie up on Wednesday morning,".
The Email also suggests that a Taser could be used.
"I suppose we could just have him tase her and knock her down then do it himself, but that is a little more traumatic than I wanted her to experience that early in the morning," read the e-mail. "She will have enough of that later."
"(Biden’s) own chief of staff, Ron Klain, would say last year that it was pure luck, that they did ‘everything possible wrong’ (with H1N1). And we learned from that."
"There are estimates that by the end of the term of this administration, they will have lost more jobs than almost any other presidential administration."
That Rose Garden event — there's been a great deal of speculation about it — my wife Karen and I were there and honored to be there. Many of the people who were at that event, Susan, were actually tested for coronavirus, and it was an outdoor event, which all of our scientists r...
