Microsoft released Windows 7 beta build 7000 to MSDN and TechNet subscribers yesterday and immediately run into issues with installation keys.
The company promised to make the same build available to the general public 24 hours later.
The decision to limit the public beta to 2.5 million users was a clever move that obviously ignited tremendous interest as many users waited with anticipation to test-drive the software.
But it wasn't just clever marketing that put Windows 7 on the map.
In fact, positive Windows 7 buzz has been floating around for months, slowly creating an avalanche.
